Lost in translation?

Brilliant comedian Jo Brand starts her part in this video by saying:

"If people like me need to get involved, you know we are in deep trouble."

(I watched another version where she said, more frankly, "...we are in deep sh*t.")

I love these videos by Climate Science Breakthrough.

People need to relate to the issues we are facing FAST.

And comedy definitely helps.

But what can we learn from this if we are not comedians and we have to operate in boardrooms?

Don't get lost in translation.

Next time you have to speak to a client (who doesn't have a BSc in Geography) about sustainability, K.I.S.S. =

Keep

It

Simple

Sweetheart / and Short / Small [choose your preferred version].

Basically, do the Mum's Test.

Ask yourself: would my mum understand it (assuming your mum is not a climate scientist)?

If not, reformulate it so that your mum (and Aunt Mary) gets it.
