Life lessons from Nature
In the Women in Sustainability Network Cafe event I hosted last week, I led a slightly wacky exercise which I want to share with you:
I asked people to write down the name of an animal or plant they liked and admired the qualities of (from dolphins to jasmine flowers, we had them all).
Then I ask them to reflect upon a challenge they were facing and how they could embody the qualities of that animal or plant to address their challenge.
As an example, I chose (obviously) the gorilla.
My challenge in recent weeks has been to have the stamina and confidence to finish the book and start the podcast.
A gorilla is calm and assertive, so when I reflected upon it, I realised that I would need to just rely on my knowledge and experience, calmly deal with one task at a time, and not let my impostor syndrome get in the way.
What's your favourite animal or plant, and what qualities do they have that can inspire you to overcome your challenges?
